I'm beginning to wonder how it is called social media if you just constantly post messages to your blog and never respond to the questions your post generates.?Ç Are you just shouting to hear yourself talk, or do you wish to engage the person you've managed to touch with your post?

If you think you're an influencer and intend to allow others to become engaged by your comment, idea, shout, then it would seem appropriate that you should take the time to respond.?Ç Whether it be through an email, comment follow-up or another blog post all together.

And one more thing: if you're going to ask a question, expect an answer, and don't be so busy typing your next brilliant insight to take the time to listen.

Thinking of anyone in particular, Michael?

Certainly not you, Colin! Just a small rant about how I feel some of the A-listers talk a good game, but somehow fail to click on the engagement principals of social media. It’s gotten so comical to me in a couple of cases I’m actually spliffing some of them to see if I get a reply. (If I named names, then I’d probably be dropped a peg or too and I’m not sure how much lower a Z-lister can fall.)

Sure, I’m listed as a Nobody, but I still try to be entertaining, resourceful and responsive. Plus, sometimes those A-listers get me thinking, and I need some clarification. But, no, they’re all too busy clicking away to respond.

I’ve actually never had too much of a problem engaging most folks, and I’ve even had some very good replies come my way.

I just want to make sure we’re not so busy talking to listen occassionally.
