Hamas Hires Public Relations Consultant

Posted on Feb 03 , 2006 in PR & Spin This!

According to the Media Guardian, Hamas, the suddenly in control Palestinian group, has hired a PR firm to convince Europeans and Americans that they are misunderstood and not a bunch of religious fanatics.

Of course, the United States government has tagged Hamas a terrorist organization. So what advise could $180,000 purchase? Here are some ideas:

1. Drop the happy gun-toting and rabid celebrations every time a suicide bomb goes off. It only seems to add to the terrorist denotation.

2. Stop announcing "Death to Israel" every waking moment of the day. Perhaps avoiding linking America to the "Evil Satan" would help too.

3. Soften the whole image: remove the face masks, store the guns, and appear somewhat reasonable and sane.

Apparently the man hired to work his magic is a Mr. Nashnat Agtash, who not only suggested dropping the "Death to Israel" rhetoric, but also suggested that Mr. Abu Tir shave off the red beard.

Pull this off Mr. Agtash and you'll get your own chapter next to the one about Exxon, and more than likely an Anvil award.

Wow, had not heard this, thanks for the info. Just amazing. $180,000 hardly seems like enough to change Hamas’ image ;-)
