The American Tort Reform Association (ATRA) continues to garner press for the Judicial Hellholes 2005 report, the latest in a series of a public relations campaign focused on tort and legal reform.  Fortunately, my court didn't make the list, although the link to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's press release targeting Illinois did refer to 'jackpots.'

By the way, the ATRA defines Judicial Hellholes as places "that have a disproportionately harmful impact on civil litigation. Litigation tourists, guided by their personal injury lawyers seek out these places because they know they will produce a positive outcome - an excessive verdict or settlement, a favorable precedent, or both."
